What Is PLR or Private Label Rights?

PLR, the abbreviation for Private Label Rights, is a type of license agreement that can be purchased alongside any type of content.

Content that comes with PLR grants you the rights to edit, use, and sometimes claim ownership of the content that comes with it as if you created it in the first place.

This means that you’re allowed to add your name to a content package with PLR as the author/owner. However, what you can do with the content is determined by the exact license agreement.

Types of Content Licenses

Here are some of the most popular ones:

Unrestricted Private Label Rights

With Unrestricted rights, you have the ability to use the content in any way you’d like, including reselling for profits. Literally, anything you want to do with it can be done.

Private Label Rights (PLR)

These are some of the best licenses that can be given or bought. This license allows you to claim the product as your own depending on the exact terms involved. You’ll be allowed to change the content, edit it, and have your name on it as the Author. Basically, you can do anything you want with it.

Master Resell Rights (MRR)

These licenses give you permission to resell the product as it is. With this license, if you sell the product your customer will be able to resell it as is. Sometimes it allows you to pass the rights onto someone else and most of the time it’s mostly for EBooks.

Resell Rights (RR)

With this license, there are a few limits. With this license, you’ll be able to sell the product but often times only at a certain price. When selling this product with the original rights, the original license usually says that only the next customer is allowed to use it.

Personal Usage Right (PUR)

With a lot of products on the internet, this license applies to the majority of them. This license is only for personal usage. You’re not allowed to resell any content purchased with this license, but you are allowed to edit it to your liking for your own blog posts, web pages, or free ebooks. You’re allowed to make backups but you’re not allowed to distribute them.
